For our very first Kiss & Tell Speakeasy, we promise you a festive, steamy, and periodically introspective night. Speakeasies were establishments that illegally sold alcohol during Prohibition (1920–1932), a restrictive time period that doesn't feel all that different than what we have to put up with today. Join us at Rose Live Music, the perfect location to step back into a roaring twenties juke joint. Drink moonshine from tea cups amidst the beautiful wallpaper and decadently dressed guests.
We have invited Smirk (aka our very talented buddy Brandon Wolcott) to play a sexy set of django, flanger, Billie Holiday edits, and perhaps some techno mash ups with fun jazz licks. Brandon played at Kiss & Tell's Gay Boyfriends party years ago and we are very happy to have him back. Smirk traveled to Belgrade to perform at Dispatch Festival this year, has appeared at the Communikey Festival in Boulder, and has a few releases out on Brooklyn's Wolf + Lamb label.
Our resident DJ Bethany Benzur will top the night off with some of her own intoxicating rare disco gems that are sure to make you break out into the jitterbug.

Kiss & Tell Guest DJ: Smirk (Wolf + Lamb, Communikey, Archipel) Brandon Wolcott, Smirk, grew up in California and Hong Kong and now lives in Brooklyn. He works extensively as a theatrical sound designer and produces dramatic events in the pursuit of liminality. He has released music on Wolf + Lamb and Archipel and performed live sets around the U.S. and Europe. Last fall he performed at both the Unsound festival in Krakow and Dispatch festival in Belgrade. He is a regular at Communikey in Boulder and performed a number of times at the Bunker over the years. |

Kiss & Tell Hostess, Photographer, Designer: Seze Devres started Kiss & Tell as an extention of her raunchy knitting circle at Trash Bar in Williamsburg on December 7, 2005. At first only a few people showed up to her new party. However wiith a lot of help, support, and encouragement from her friends the party has become its own little beast. When she is is not dreaming up crazy themes and guests for Kiss & Tell she is a full time artist, photographer, designer and curator. www.seze.net

Kiss & Tell Hostess: Deanna Asta met Seze, her fellow lady of the nightlife, a few years ago at The Bunker and they bonded instantly. Seze asked Deanna to help co-host Kiss & Tell once it moved to Rose Bar and she happily obliged. Deanna always shows up to Kiss & Tell with a bag full of tricks. She is our decorating goddess and makes sure everyone at the party is looking great and having a good time. She somehow convinced every guest to wear fake moustaches at the French pop party, and she dragged a vintage Nordic Track machine to the aerobics party! She holds a degree in design and over the years she has art directed/managed many design events and parties in NYC through her previous employment with Core77.com. When she's not enjoying the nightlife she's busy earning her second degree in Psychiatric Nursing. |
