Seze Devres

Seze Devres, a Brooklyn a photographer, has been curating promoting and documenting nightlife since the 90s. While attending Bard College she headed the entertainment committee, where she booked many notable bands like Stereolab. In 2005 Kiss & Tell she began at Trash Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as a knitting circle for like minded music obsessed ladies. Kiss & Tell eventually moved to the very feminine wallpaper-lined Rose Bar, where Kiss & Tell blossomed into a debauchery filled Wednesday night monthly. Seze invited her favorite DJs to play open format dance music sets. Guests attended in elaborate costumes photographed in front of wacky themed decorations, often created with much group effort, thus inspiring a wild and wonderful canvas for Seze to document with her camera. Having spent ten years hosting and photographing many of the artists who passed through town to play The Bunker New York, many visiting DJs would play a second secret set at Kiss & Tell while passing through town. Thus inspired a tradition of hosting well known techno DJs eager to play open format sets, often filled with the all the records that inspired their earliest love of music. This eventually led to her being invited to curate her party in tandem with notable festivals  such as Unsound in Poland and Communikey in Colorado. On the rare times Seze DJs she taps in to her Kiss & Tell ethos to carefully craft sets full of indie, disco, italo, and synthpop for Ace Hotel in NY and LA. Kiss & Tell Party currently has a residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club. Seze currently helps promote events at Output, Elsewhere and Good Room.

Kiss & Tell Party began as a knitting circle at Trash Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where like minded music obsessed ladies would meet up to knit, have a few drinks, and, well... kiss and tell! The first official party was on December 7, 2005. Kiss & Tell eventually moved a few blocks away to the very femininely decorated, wallpaper lined Rose Bar. In the new space Kiss & Tell blossomed into a debauchery filled Wednesday night monthly, where artist Seze Devres invited her favorite DJs to play genre-specific, vintage dance music sets. Guests would often attend in elaborate costumes or arrive wearing just one color requested in advance. Wacky themed decorations - often created with much group effort - became the norm, inspiring a wild and wonderful canvas for Seze to document with her camera. Through her professional and romantic connection to The Bunker New York, many visiting DJs would play a second secret set at Kiss & Tell while passing through town. Thus inspired a tradition of hosting well known techno DJs eager to play non-techno sets, often filled with the all the records that inspired their earliest love of music.

In December 2007 Bethany (ex Benzur) Erskine became the first resident DJ. With her encyclopedic knowledge of disco and italo, deeply inspired by I-F's seminal "Mixed Up in the Hague" 2000 compilation, Bethany has helped craft the party's own sound.

Past resident DJs inlcude: Mike Simonetti owner of 2MR Records, well known producer, and head of the band Pale Blue, James Friedman owner of Throne of Blood Records, and Matthew Patterson Curry aka the artist Safety Scissors and Andy Egelhoff aka SPRKLBB.

The current resident DJ is Young Male.

Bethany Erskine is Kiss & Tell's beautiful disco encyclopedia from Mississippi. Ever since she emigrated to Brooklyn in 2007, Bethany has ruled the dancefloor at Kiss & Tell parties with her Southern charm and excellent taste. Even the deepest crate digging record nerds are regularly awed by her rare records and can be seen trainspotting her selections. Each month she delights us with her mix of raunchy electro, glamorous dark disco, and soulful street funk. Bethany has recently been moonlighting at The Bunker party with some very memorable opening sets of space disco and house.

THANK YOU! To all my Kiss & Tell Party guest DJ and performers in the past. I could not have done it without you.
